Eye Eye...It's Big Brother 9

How great is this weather at the moment? I don't think I'd ever grow tired of hot sunny days and it looks set to continue for a couple more days yet. Well, that's if you believe those 5 day forecasts on various websites. The only problem with those is they change, er, every day. More of a "1 day forecast" really.

Summer is finally here and I love it! As I drive into work each evening, you can smell barbeques being lit, there's drinkers pouring out on to the pavements outside pubs and local parks are packed with people. And summer is about to start indoors too - that's right people, Big Brother is coming back. AAAAGGGHHHHH!

When it first started back in 2000, I was a massive fan of BB. It was incredibly innovative and fascinating to spend time "people watching". But it feels as years have gone on, it's become so staged and predictable in the way they pick housemates that always fall into certain categories. Ratings have fallen and they even started repeating old ideas and tasks. It was also looking like the original presenters were moving on too, with Dermot already gone and rumours about Davina saying this will be her last series. Although last night, at the Sex & The City premiere she denied it was true. But the fact remains, they're going to have to do something pretty special to woo us back for the 9th series, which starts on Thursday June 5th.

 Was it really a year ago we were all watching Samanda, Brian saying "Shut up" at every opportunity and the on/off relationship between Ziggy and Chanelle?

So, what do we know about BB9? Well, revealed today is the brand new Big Brother Eye, this year with a splintered effect in red and black. It's also been announced that George Lamb and Zezi will replace Dermot on Big Brother's Little Brother. There's a new Facebook fan site and as always, a new house. The house has undergone a complete rebuild with a new open-air section, which some of the papers have been spying in the last few days. I've heard they'll be fewer housemates compared to last year's 24 and producers will be more strict on ensuring housemates stick to the rule book. And no doubt, in the next few weeks, the press will go rumour-crazy trying to work out what will fill our screens this summer. One paper even said they'll be aliens in this years series! To be honest, most previous Big Brother housemates have been from another planet. (A poor punchline if ever I've written one).
