Hair To The Throne

I'm feeling SO relaxed today. It's not just because it's the weekend, or because I get to host the most chilled radio show every night. It's because ... wait for it ... I had my hair cut. Now, before you think I've turned into a right sad case, surely I'm not the only one that loves to do nothing for an hour but sit there, have someone make you look better and have tea and coffee delivered on request. Trust me, when you've got 3 kids, just getting to sit and do nothing (without the tea and coffee) is rare. Or have I turned into a girl? OK, don't answer that one.

I think I'm also aware that during the Summer, I'm going to have to stop relaxing and get on m' bike! Like many of you, I've signed up to do the Heart Palace To Palace Bike Ride. For the last couple of years I've been thinking I should and finally, I've gone for it. It's in September - a 45 mile bike ride between Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle raising money for The Princes Trust. Actually, I can't wait. Thing is, I'm aware that I need to get some serious training in over the coming months.

On Wednesday, I went for a 5 mile trek near where I live, thinking I'd start small and build up. I WAS EXHAUSTED! Anyone who saw me as I arrived home would think I'd just got back from the entire 45 mile course. Well, they would have got the "5" bit right. So here's my plan, go out 2 or 3 times a week extending the distances each time until cycling 45 miles is the easiest thing ever. (Stop laughing). Who am I kidding? If it becomes a typical Beale effort, I'll next go out in August for a 3 mile ride and maybe once more before the event. Yeah, that sounds more like it.
