Happy Pancake Day

Personally, I'm a boring sugar and lemon man ... although cherry pie filling is also high on the list of fillings I'll be opting for later. Mmmmm - LOVE pancakes. You're going to think I'm always talking about food, what with this and my video tour of Borough Market the other week. I promise you, I'm not ALWAYS thinking about my stomach.

I just am.... A LOT OF THE TIME.

I mentioned in my blog on Friday that we were going to a Chinese restaurant at the weekend that's been highly recommended by Gary Rhodes, who apparently goes there 3 times a month! Well, clearly Mr Rhodes knows good food when he eats it (anyone would think he's a top UK chef) as I can honestly say I had the best crispy duck and spare ribs to ever touch my taste buds.

If you're in SE London, you have to go! It's called "Xian" (glad I'm typing it and not trying to pronounce it) and it's based in Orpington, near Bromley, right on the main high street. From the outside, it doesn't look anything special and if you didn't know about it beforehand, chances are you'd miss the place. The menu's not that pricey and it has a really buzzy atmosphere. If you want to go on a Saturday night, you're advised to book a few weeks in advance as word is spreading about how good it is. Seriously, this was the best chinese food I've ever tasted and although I can't keep up with Gary's 3 times a month, I wouldn't mind going back there again soon.

As for the rest of the weekend, Esther had a great birthday and "Lost" didn't disappoint. It's more weird and wonderful than ever and just when I thought Hurley couldn't get any bigger ... I think he has. Clearly, the food supplies on that island aren't as sparse as we originally thought!

Don't forget "Heartbreakers" - back on tonight at 10. It's all about the chill-out songs so I promise you an amazing late night soundtrack before you head off to bed. See you then.
